How to Write your Book Using your iPhone!

Inspiration strikes at the most random times – Don’t let it pass! You might not always have a piece of paper and pen handy, but your smart phone is either in your hand, back pocket or purse at all times. USE IT!

laptopI composed my second and third books in small chunks writing everywhere you could imagine. I used the notepad app on my iPhone. I even bought a fifty dollar Bluetooth keyboard so I can easily sit and write when I’m inspired. Once I’m done with my thoughts I email it to myself so when I get home, it’s waiting in my inbox. Then I copy and paste it into a Word document and clean it up.

Woman waiting at the airport

Anytime you gave a extra five minutes in your day, you need to write. Waiting in line to pick up the kids from school? Write on your smart phone or tablet. Walking on the treadmill? Jot some ideas down. I get some of my best ideas wiggle working out, probably because of all the blood pumping through my veins and those feel-good endorphins flooding my body.

Traveling soon? Airports are another great place to write. Just think about how many minutes you waste lining up to be groped by security, waiting for delayed flights,  or sitting on the plane while the staff fuels up, thinking, Damn where is that truck to push back the plane?

Never take a second of free time for granted! Create in the chaos and leave your legacy!

Start today!

Make Your Book Launch F U N!

Make your event fun. The boring sit-at-a-table-and-autograph-the-book-people-were-waiting-in-line-to-buy-for-days are over. To get people out to your party, you need to have a fun event. This is especially true if you are a new author. Why should they come and see you?

lou-reed-book-signing-colette-2For the Dating Jungle not only did we have costumes, prizes and drinks, we also had a live jazz music. I decorated my area just like a jungle. Everything from a jungle background and vines hung all over the ceilings and tables, to blow-up monkeys to hang from the vines and palm trees on the walls. I even had a sex foot Jane and Tarzan photo op printed where people could take pictures of themselves.

Think outside of the box. Don’t be another boring book signing event. Do something crazy! The more over the top it is, the more people will have fun and remember it. Maybe bring a magician in to do card tricks or some kind of performer. For a children’s book get a balloon artist. Anything to get people to stay and hang out for a while.

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.The Richter Publishing 3rd Annual Author Award Ceremony & Book Gala will be hosted at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant[4110 West Boy Scout Boulevard Tampa, FL 33607]. Bottomless wine and talented authors! Get your ticket today!

Tips for a Successful Book Launch

When you have such a great part, why not let people know about the fun time you had? Here are some tips to show them what they missed out on and what is expected of your next event so they make sure they attend!

Document everything that happens at your party. The more you have recorded, the more you can post online. The record increases your SEO and Google-ability when people post about your party.

It is also a good idea to hire a professional photographer . You undo not want the only photos of you event to be badly-lit selfies. We have had some amazing videos taken at our parties. It’s worth it get them on tape and then edit it into a quick promo for you and yo9ur book/company. If you don’t have a lot extra money you can do it on your smartphone and use a video editing software. However, if you can, hire a professional. Even if you’re on a budget. It’s worth it to get that great video to post on your website, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. to get out into the world.

To get an idea in person, The  3rd Annual Author Award Ceremony & Book Gala Will be hosted on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant [4110 West Boy Scout Boulevard Tampa, FL 33607]

Putting Pen to Paper

Last week Tara Richter was interviewed on Daytime TV! Tara shares how you can write your first book in just 4 weeks by “creating in chaos.” You can get your copy of “Write a Book in 4 Weeks” with all tips and checklists to help you become a bestseller here!

IMG_5590

5 Tips to Get Started Writing:

1)    Utilize spare time. Waiting in the airport or delayed flights, jot down ideas. On the airplane use iPhone or iPad & blue tooth keyboard to type out your thoughts on the notepad app. It’s easier than using your laptop because it takes up less space.

2)    Carry an idea pad. When creativity hits hone in on it & jot them down as soon as they come into mind. You never know when a new idea will pop in. Write it down ASAP, don’t forget them!

3)    Start a blog. With your new ideas start a blog & write in the blog 2-3 days a week. After a few months you’ll have enough info to flesh out a rough draft. It’s also a good way to get SEO and start promoting the book with short teasers and by pre-selling with PayPal buttons.

4)    Write the first hour of every day. Sit down every morning and write for at least one hour. If you get it done first thing in the morning you won’t let daily activities get in the way or procrastinate. And if you write 715 words a day for 28 days you have 20,020 words which is a 100 page 5×8 book. How you can write a book in 4 weeks!

5)    Read more. Read more to get your ideas flowing. Anytime I have a creative block I buy a book about overcoming blocks and read it. Or read something similar to the topic you’re writing about.
