Make Your Book Launch F U N!

Make your event fun. The boring sit-at-a-table-and-autograph-the-book-people-were-waiting-in-line-to-buy-for-days are over. To get people out to your party, you need to have a fun event. This is especially true if you are a new author. Why should they come and see you?

lou-reed-book-signing-colette-2For the Dating Jungle not only did we have costumes, prizes and drinks, we also had a live jazz music. I decorated my area just like a jungle. Everything from a jungle background and vines hung all over the ceilings and tables, to blow-up monkeys to hang from the vines and palm trees on the walls. I even had a sex foot Jane and Tarzan photo op printed where people could take pictures of themselves.

Think outside of the box. Don’t be another boring book signing event. Do something crazy! The more over the top it is, the more people will have fun and remember it. Maybe bring a magician in to do card tricks or some kind of performer. For a children’s book get a balloon artist. Anything to get people to stay and hang out for a while.

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.The Richter Publishing 3rd Annual Author Award Ceremony & Book Gala will be hosted at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant[4110 West Boy Scout Boulevard Tampa, FL 33607]. Bottomless wine and talented authors! Get your ticket today!

Tips for a Successful Book Launch

When you have such a great part, why not let people know about the fun time you had? Here are some tips to show them what they missed out on and what is expected of your next event so they make sure they attend!

Document everything that happens at your party. The more you have recorded, the more you can post online. The record increases your SEO and Google-ability when people post about your party.

It is also a good idea to hire a professional photographer . You undo not want the only photos of you event to be badly-lit selfies. We have had some amazing videos taken at our parties. It’s worth it get them on tape and then edit it into a quick promo for you and yo9ur book/company. If you don’t have a lot extra money you can do it on your smartphone and use a video editing software. However, if you can, hire a professional. Even if you’re on a budget. It’s worth it to get that great video to post on your website, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. to get out into the world.

To get an idea in person, The  3rd Annual Author Award Ceremony & Book Gala Will be hosted on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant [4110 West Boy Scout Boulevard Tampa, FL 33607]

A Tip From Richter Publishing’s Vault to Launch Your Book!

So you’ve written your book, edited your book and GOT IT PUBLISHED! Now it’s time to launch your book. Just when you thought the hardest parts were behind you, there is more work to be done. But it doesn’t have to be a painful or difficult process – Tara Richter has created books for every step, including “Launch Your Book  into the Stratosphere & be a Best Seller.” Today we’re sharing an ingredient to making your book launch a success!

Launch Your Book into the Stratosphere

Ingredient 7: SEO Your Party

You want to list your party on several event sites. But you don’t just want it listed. You want a powerhouse event so momentous that when people search for a get-together online, your event is the first to pop up. Basically, you want to “Search Engine Optimize,” or SEO, your party.

What is SEO? Search engines have Web spreaders constantly updating the index of pages online. If you are searching for hand soap, Web spiders make sure the websites you find are related to hand soap. Search Engine Optimization is the process of maximizing the potential for people to see your event.

With the proper technique, you could rank your event on the first page of Google. When entering your event details, use key search terms that other people will use to find events in their area.”

Examples for tags I used for my Halloween party book launch:

  • Tampa costume party
  • Tampa Bay singles party
  • Halloween book launch party
  • Singles mixer Halloween costume party
  • Halloween Tampa 2012

In the  Tampa Bay area I use:

  • 813area.com
  • Craigslist.org
  • Creative Loafing
  • Event Live

Become a Best Seller on Amazon

How do you acquire that golden feather in your cap? To become an Amazon Best Seller? Well my friend, with anything there is a method to the madness! There are certain steps that you can take that will help you sell more books. First, let’s break down the difference in Best Seller statuses. The two most popular Best Seller titles to gain are: New York Times Best Seller & Amazon Best Seller.  Within Amazon there is #1 Best Seller, then the Best Seller and Hot New Releases categories.

Now let’s discuss how you can become a Best Seller within these different aspects:

New York Times Best Seller

I would say, this is the highest prestige of an author to reach this level. Why? Because it is way more difficult, like climbing Mount Everest in the Himalayas. New York Times Best Seller is the tallest mountain to hike for book sales. The only way you can become a New York Times Best Seller is by selling the most amount of books from the bookstore. Here’s a few obstacles you have to overcome first: Get your book into the bookstore! Then outsell more books from people physically getting off their couches, driving to the place and buying your book. As we know, it’s hard to get people off their digital devices for anything. If you’re famous, this will be easier, as people will know you and most likely there will be more media attention surrounding your book launch. However, if you haven’t reached fame yet, an easier method would be to reach Amazon Best Seller.

Amazon Best Seller

This is selling out the most amount of books than anyone else in your given category that your book is listed in of paperback books. They do have a Kindle Best Seller, but for the sake of this article, we are speaking of physical paperback books. Amazon refreshes their Best Seller list every hour in each separate category. So sales are reported pretty quickly. However, if yours hit, it may take up to 10 hours for results to display. That being said, it’s still way faster than New York Times Best Seller which is being tracked from the Nielsen BookScan database. So that can take weeks to calculate.

Amazon #1 Best Seller Amazon Best Seller

This status is another ring above just the Best Seller category. If a book in Amazon reaches this, it adds the little orange tag next to it stating it’s the #1 Best Seller. This title is a little bit harder to receive than just Amazon Best Seller. I’m not sure of exact book sales totals, however, other articles have quoted that you must sell around 5,000 copies a day consistently.  Once again, I’m not 100% sure of that number; it’s just from what I’ve researched.

Amazon Best Seller status  can be achieved though from having a strategy in place. If you would like to know the steps to making your book a best seller, tune into our next virtual workshop April 16th from 2-4 pm and I will share my secrets with you! Get your tickets here!

The book corresponding with the class will be available soon!
