Obstacles to Overcome as a Writer

Each writer comes across some self-doubt along the way. Experienced or amateur, below is a list of obstacles that writers must overcome in order to create. Any of these ring a bell?

  • Doubt
  • Procrastination
  • Stress
  • Perfectionism
  • Laziness
  • Anger
  • Jealousy

The only way to overcome is to face each of these obstacles head on. There is no short cut to get it done, but I can provide little tricks that will make it easier.

  • Utilize Every Minute. You need to take advantage of every spare moment you have to finish your book. There is never a right time to compose a novel. You will never have those extra minutes just looming around. You have to create during chaos. You have to make the time and effort in order for it happen.
  • Don’t Edit While You Write. Write when you feel inspired and don’t stop until you feel like you have gotten it all out. Once you get your thoughts spinning in your head you need to stop what you’re doing and write them down, even if it’s chicken scratch notes. You can always go back and edit later.
  • Use Google for Spelling. Google is much more up to date than Word.

If you want to write  a book, you can. But the first step is getting the words out. Just the idea of it can be overwhelming and stressful—which is why many people who want to write a book don’t. If you are new to writing or need help getting started, the full version of my book will provide you with some insight on how to make this seemingly impossible task, possible!

Richter Publishing also has packages where we can write the book for you to make it even easier! Contact us for more info.

Richter Publishing’s Title Feature Rock the Crowd by Pierce Brunson

Blank white book w/pathPierce Brunson has 13 years teaching in the public school system as a high school Social Studies teacher, majoring in World History and Sociology. As a teacher, Pierce has a natural gift to rock the crowd, and every day he knew the power of taking the stage in front of students and delivering a great lesson. Being a sponge for learning ideas that would work with his students, Pierce started to use the techniques of other campus crowd rockers to greatly improve his teaching techniques. The second part of his life involves developing content that helps high school students grow the best skills possible to follow their personal path to success. Anytime Pierce has the opportunity to speak to teachers or students, he is only thinking of one thing before he starts…Rock the Crowd!

A little about Rock the Crowd—

Is there anything better for students than being in the class of the cool teacher? When it comes to being a teenage student, and being forced to attend school, there is nothing better than a class where the teacher is passionate about education. How do these popular teachers continue to be the sparkle in the eyes of so many children, while there are others that can’t get them to pay attention? Rock the Crowd shares the methods of those teachers that are considered cool by students, while maintaining the best relationships for valuable learning to take place. For the “cool teacher,” the front of their classroom is their stage, and every day, for hours, they give the greatest performance their students have seen to date. The crowd-rocker teaches with passion and convictions that inspire real student connections and learning that last a lifetime. These teachers are popular, year after year, while others are still struggling to learn how to relate to the students. In Rock the Crowd, I share all the things cool teachers do that make them successful in working with, and producing, successful and long lasting, learning-centered relationships. Rock the Crowd is great for teachers who are struggling to find their teaching groove and to reenergize those that are already grooving.

Title Spotlight – On The Road: From A Block Of Clay by Elizabeth Bunbury

Blank white book w/pathThis week’s title spotlight is “On The Road: From A Block Of Clay” by Elizabeth Bunbury! This title was released in 2014.

Here are some words from the Elizabeth Bunbury about

On The Road: From A Block Of Clay” —

My previous book, FROM A BLOCK OF CLAY, POTLUCK EDITION, Concluded with these words: “Let the journey begin…” Well, my journey has truly begun, and I am now “on the road”. I believe it is the path God prepared specifically for me to travel even before I was born. While there were many detours, with God’s help– and of others whom he sent to walk the path with me—I am moving forward. We are all on a journey, and we all have a story to tell. The stories in ON THE ROAD show the progression of my journey with its twists, turns, back-tracking, and going forward again. Your life’s journey may be somewhat similar to mine, or quite different. Either way, it is my prayer that, as you read, you will realize you are not alone on this journey called life. May you learn there is hope that a new, smoother path could be just ahead.

Tune into 1250 WHNZ AM at 8AM!

Here is a snippet from Deborah Killebrew’s book, “Finding My Way Back,” —

“What would you do if you suddenly found everything you knew was taken away from you? What if in the blink of an eye, you no longer were able to speak, walk, work, or dress yourself? What would you do if you could not even tell your children that you loved them? For Debbie Killebrew, these horrible questions came true in one night of drinking that changed her life forever. However, Debbie has fought to overcome the impossible, even when she was told that she would never walk again, never drive again, and never live a normal life again. Her inspiring true story will show you that no matter what twists and turns life takes, you can get up and keep going – and also serves as an unfortunately realistic testimony about how drinking and driving can truly take away everything you know.”
