Valentine’s Day Books for Broken Hearts

If you are nursing a broken heart, the arrival of Valentine’s Day can feel like sand in a paper cut. The prospect of finding love for anyone trying to heal from an ended relationship or take the first steps to open up to love again can seem daunting. This is especially true in a world where dating is dominated by the presence of often futile dating apps, a system that has made the process of meeting new people feel more and more unintuitive for many. If you are looking for a way to feel inspired or comforted rather than downtrodden this Valentine’s Day, Richter Publishing has an array of books to help satisfy a medley of V-Day preferences, from self-help dating advice, to fiction and poetry, to love-themed coloring books! Here are some books to help you through the process of mending a broken heart:

Self-Help:

5 Steps to Heal a Broken Heart, by Tara Richter

5 Steps to Heal a Broken Heart, by Tara Richter

PARKER PATHWAYS BOOK REVIEW: If you want to know how to reconnect with your inner “broken heart” this is the book for you. Everyone has a definition about a broken heart, some say it is sadness, others say it is something I have to “get on with my life.” But the broken heart remains broken as if you are undergoing forever Post-Traumatic Stress. The truth is you have to get down and dirty and build a new pathway. It starts out by digging “deep” into your being in order to come out at the other end of the tunnel and become what I call the “Real You.” Moments in this book border on powerful discoveries that appear simple, but as in all nature simple survives to overcome adversity. If you follow the rules in this book, you will rise to the center of your consciousness in the “Real You.” Once you have accomplished this, you will be continually speaking from your full heart and not a remaining broken one. I recommend this book for your reading. I give a big hug or otherwise called “marasmus” to you and your family. These rules will get your brain working on a happy healing, love and new start on the pathway “to heal a broken heart.” ~ By Dr. Winn Parker Ph.D. M.T. American Society of Clinical Pathology

The Fright of December 13th

’Twas the night before Christmas—or so it would seem,

Yet Friday the 13th spun a darker dream.

With coffee-stained mugs and stale midnight snacks,

Authors hunched over their keyboards in stacks.

Pens scratched like claws in the still of the night,

Plots twisted and turned under dim candlelight.

A horror writer cackled, his characters doomed,

While a poet wilted as bad rhymes consumed.

From the bookshelf, a creak—a whisper, no less,

“A typo! A TYPO!” the grim voice confessed.

Writers froze in their chairs, their spines wired with dread,

Had the ghosts of rejected drafts risen instead?

The fantasy author dropped her quill with a start,

For her villain’s backstory had just fallen apart.

Romance wept—her “love triangle” became a square,

While sci-fi declared, “My character lacks all flair!”

A breeze carried whispers through that cursed writer’s den,

“You pressed ‘Send’ on your manuscript—mistakes and all ten!”

“Who dares summon clichéd tropes—so overdone?”

“And who thought that adverbs should roam free in a ton?”

With a gulp and a shudder, the authors took stock,

Editing madly as the hall’s clock went “tock.”

’Twas a night for rewrites, for plot holes to seal,

For no writer can rest when their work doesn’t feel.

But as dawn broke softly on December the 14th,

The terrors of fiction snuck quietly from beneath.

For despite the typos and pacing unclear,

An author’s first draft is an act without fear.

So beware, fellow scribes, on Fridays so grim,

The ghosts of poor structure may creep on a whim.

But know this as your courage fights with despair,

Even brilliance is born from the dark midnight air.

Here’s to all the writers on this Friday the 13th, whether you’re just starting out or have been doing it for years. Keep fighting those Friday night battles and never forget that your words have the power to inspire, entertain, and touch hearts. Happy writing, from Richter Publishing!

Going Back to School Books

As summer break comes to an end, kids and teachers are preparing for the new school year to kick off. Going back to school is exciting for so many reasons. It is always an enjoyment to make new friends, to see our old ones, and to learn and teach new things!

At Richter Publishing, we have books for teachers and kids.

For children, there are the Riley and Milo books written by Cassie L. D’Addeo. In Riley and Her Big Feelings at School, Riley’s story teaches kids how to cope with their emotions and inspires them to be honest with their big feelings. This story helps children develop empathy, emotional intelligence, and enhances resiliency.

In this book, Riley works through the stages of grief as she copes with losing her best friend Milo. Riley and Milo: A Puppy’s Story of Coping with Grief and Loss leads children through dealing with death and the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, sadness, and acceptance.

There’s a legend that bumblebees small wings cannot carry their big bodies, however they don’t realize it and will fly anyway. In Fly Anyway, a little bumblebee is told she can’t fly, but she doesn’t listen and finds herself on a journey from the beaches to the mountains and so many more places. Fly Anyway teaches children about friendship, perseverance, and following dreams.

Written by Amy-Quezon-Wilde
Illustrated by Kelly Jo Terry

Brittney Kempink’s Three Friends Limeade: Friends and Business Mix Together is a colorful book about characters who have their own limeade stand. Kempink teaches children about doing business and working together with others. The end of the book also has a fun limeade recipe!

For teachers, you can check out our list of books on our website. We recommend the following for this school year.

¡Spanish for You!: Spanish Course for Beginners and Advanced Students A1-B1 by Heidi McPherson is a detailed textbook to learn and teach Spanish. It has real-language usage with useful vocabulary and grammar. English translations are included for understanding. The book also contains exercises and a list of words at the end of the book.

From “America’s Most Hilarious Teacher” Mike Rivera, you’ll encounter the unique perspectives of a comedian and teacher. From Stand-Up Comedian to Stand-Up Teacher is a book about the experiences of both worlds and Mike’s story of bringing both worlds together.

Whether you are looking for an inspiring story or an informational read, there is something for everyone. As W.B. Yeats said, “Education is not the filling of a pot but the lighting of a fire”. Teachers, we thank you for everything you do. Click here for a list of all the books available to purchase via Amazon. Happy reading and happy school year!

March is National Reading Month!

National Reading Month is an annual event celebrated throughout the United States. This month-long celebration brings together parents, teachers, librarians, and students to promote reading for pleasure and education. During this month, schools typically provide special resources on reading and literacy development. Schools also often host book clubs, author visits, storytelling hours, library time extensions, and other activities that promote books and reading. All these activities help to create an environment where books are valued and literacy is celebrated. National Reading Month is a wonderful opportunity to bring books into the lives of children and adults alike. Whether you’re looking for books about adventure, science, current events, or just for fun.

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March is designated as National Reading Month. Dr. Seuss pointed out that National Reading Month emphasizes the importance of literacy and encourages children, teens, and adults to read more books throughout the month. Dr. Seuss believed that reading plays an essential role in developing important skills such as comprehension, critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and digital fluency. He also noted how reading can help to reduce stress levels and increase one’s knowledgebase and understanding of different cultures, people, places, etc. Dr. Seuss wanted everyone to recognize the power of reading during this month-long celebration so they are better equipped with the tools needed to maximize their potential in life. The goal is for everyone to enjoy themselves while celebrating the joys of reading and inspiring others to do the same.

National Reading Month is a great time to explore the wonderful world of books! There are so many fun activities that you can do with your kids or by yourself. Spend some time picking out new books at your local library, or create a cozy reading nook in your living room. You can also make it into a game and challenge yourself to read a certain number of books throughout the month. No matter what reading activity you decide to do, make sure to get creative and have fun! National Reading Month is all about celebrating reading in all its forms and genres. So find some time this month to appreciate reading and get lost in a good book. You won’t regret it!

Check out our list of books from our authors in Richter Publishing to cozy up with this month. Here is our top five best sellers from 2022! Listed in order from most selling books #1 to #5:

Traditional publishing, as we know it, won’t be around much longer.

This here is exactly the reason why I am working on a documentary about the publishing industry with Maurice Jovan to educate authors. Because traditional publishing is falling! The proof is in the pudding Penguin House is in a lawsuit. Can’t wait for our documentary to come out soon! It describes the differences between indie publishing, traditional publishing and self-publishing. Traditional publishing, like Penny Sansevieri describes in her article, is archaic and an outdated model. With POD (print on demand) and technology, small indie presses can do the exactly the same thing as the big guys. AND they don’t really help you with marketing. However, new authors have this pie-in-the-sky dream of becoming the next JK Rowling’s and it’s really not about that. It’s about getting your book out on distribution channels first. Baby steps.

Let me be clear: I don’t dislike traditional publishing, but they’re operating in an antiquated system that has worked for them previously, but really doesn’t support the author or, for that matter, further book sales.” Penny Sansevieri

Read her entire article here. This is what I have been saying for years. After sitting in conferences with and on panels right next to the big guys. But people don’t want to listen. I’m so glad someone else is saying the same thing. It’s so refreshing to hear.

Zombies Took Home the Bronze Medal in the Biz Category!

How to Run a Business During a Zombie Apocalypse, took home the bronze medal in the business category for the Florida Authors and Publishers Association Book Awards. The book was written by President of Richter Publishing LLC, Tara Richter, during the summer of 2020. With the global pandemic cutting sales and shuttering many businesses, Ms. Richter wrote of her own struggles to keep her indie publishing house afloat. The book was released in October 2020, fitting with whimsical zombie images to keep the dire topic in a humorous tone. Humor has always gotten the publisher through many hardships and this one is no exception. The book hit Amazon Best Sellers list and still ranks high in the respective categories eight months later. Interestingly enough many readers have submitted reviews yet Amazon won’t publish them. I suppose they are afraid of the zombies coming to get them too? Irregardless this book will eat away at your brain. Telling the truth of what we all went through as business owners. The truth will be told even if you don’t like it.  The book is available on distribution channels all over the world.
